Question
I have noticed that there are a couple of Powersensor kits and devices available but I am unsure which is right for me. How can I determine which kit is right for me?
Answer
Because each home is unique, we have created this guide to help you understand which Powersensor kit is right for you. Below we outline
What makes up the Powersensor product?
The Powersensor product comprises the sensor, the plug, plus the mobile app which communicate via Bluetooth and home WiFi internet connection. Depending on your requirements, you can buy a kit or buy some of these items individually. Here's an overview of each:
The sensor
Included in the energy and solar kits; can be purchased separately
The sensor detects the current flowing through the cables without needing to make an actual electrical connection. These detect currents sent to the Powersensor secure Australian cloud storage where our patented algorithms convert the signal into power and energy data for your home. The sensor communicates over WiFi to the cloud and Bluetooth to the plug for live 30 second updates.
The plug
Included in the energy and solar kits; can be purchased separately
The plug has two key functions. It acts as a gateway that allows the sensors to transmit data directly and in real-time to the Powersensor mobile app. The plug also provides appliance level monitoring by monitoring the energy consumption of the connected appliance.
The mobile app
Free download, required for all customers
How can I buy these?
As noted, the mobile app is free to download and install. It is a requirement to guide you through the install process and to give you access to your home energy insights.
The plug and the sensor can be purchased as follows:
- Solar kit - includes two sensors and one plug
- Energy Monitoring kit - includes one sensor and one plug
- The plug - additional plug
