A safety switch also known as an RCD (Residual Current Device) is a device that quickly turns off the electricity supply in your home if an electrical fault is detected. This reduces the risk of electricity related incidents such as injury and death due to electric shock as well as electricity related fires.
If you are unsure whether your home has a safety switch, contact a licensed electrician for advice about your home's electrical installation.
