Once you've installed your Powersensor Solution, it's time to get up to speed with the dashboards in your app and understand the insights you can derive to be more informed about your energy consumption and generation... and start saving!
Below we run through three of the key dashboards in your app and share what you can take from this:
Remember, if you need additional detail on any of the views while in the app, tap the (i) icon.
Real time dashboard
About this dashboardThere are three key information sources you can see on this dashboard:
View this data in real time (the Now view to the left) or at intervals of Today, Week or Month. Switch between viewing this data in either electricity usage (kW) or dollars ($)* using the toggle top right corner. The centre view shows total home energy consumption and the proportion of this that is from the grid vs from your solar system. On the left side (Solar) you will see data relating to the solar energy you are generating. The dial is green when you are feeding solar energy into the grid and yellow when you are using the energy you have generated to power your home. On the right side (Grid) see the electric power you are currently drawing from the grid, or feeding into the grid. The dial is green when you are feeding power into the grid, and blue when you draw power from the grid. |
What you can learn
With this information, you will be able to see, in real time or at any of the Today, Week or Month intervals, when your solar generation is high and therefore adjust the use of appliances you’re using. For example - run your washing machine and dishwashing. Conversely, you can also adjust appliance usage when solar generation is low.
Using the Now dollar view*, you will be able to see how much you’re saving from the solar energy your panels are generating.
Historic dashboard
About this dashboardHow you consume energy in your home changes day to day, week to week and month to month. Keep Powersensor plugged in at all times to continue data collection and analysis giving you access to your consumption and generation trends over time using the historic dashboard. See your total historic energy consumption data in either Day, Week or Month view—with a breakdown of energy from the grid and solar—as well as what you have fed back to the grid. On this dashboard, blue represents the energy consumed from the grid, yellow represents solar energy consumed by your home and green is the solar energy fed back into the grid. What you can learnBy toggling to the dollar view* (top right corner), you can also see the value of your energy consumed and work out the savings you’ve made. By better understanding your unique energy consumption and generation patterns over time, you can uncover ways to save on your energy bill. |
Appliance dashboard
About this dashboardWant to understand which of your home appliances uses the most energy? View it on this dashboard as either Day, Week or Month base consumption data. Toggle between volume of energy (kW) and dollars ($) spent at the top right corner. By attaching the plug to different appliances in your home you’ll be able to see how much energy that appliance consumes. Things to note:
What you can learnBy understanding which appliances use the most energy, you can determine the best time to use them - for example use high appliances when your solar generation is high. This view may also help you determine whether it’s time to replace the appliance for a new, more energy efficient option |
*This view requires you to input your tariffs, available from your energy retailer. Learn more here.
