Question
I'm looking to buy the Powersensor Energy Monitoring Solution and want to be sure it will suit my home setup.
Answer
The Powersensor Energy Monitoring Solution is generally compatible with most homes. Take a closer look at the compatibility factors below:
We also recommend taking a look at the other things to consider as we build out Powersensor to suit more home setups.
---
Location
You can use Powersensor in any state of Australia, providing you have a compatible setup (read below).
---
Home profile
Powersensor is suitable for:
- Both homeowners and renters
- Freestanding house, unit, or townhouse
---
Meter type/configuration
Australian homes will have either a digital or analog meter. The configuration of either meter can be:
- Single-phase
- 2-phase
- 3-phase
Most compatible fit
Powersensor is most suitable to use with a digital single-phase meter.
Other options
Digital 2 or 3-phase
We advise that if you have a digital 2 or 3-phase meter, you get in touch with us to confirm your compatibility. Submit a support ticket to your Powersensor retailer with photos of your meter board.
Analogue (single)
We are preparing to expand our solution to be compatible with analogue meters (single-phase).
If you have an analogue meter and would like to be notified when the analog-compatible solution is available, email analogue@powersensor.com.au including the State you reside in, to register your interest.
How to determine which meter type/configuration you have.

Accessibility
The hardware components of Powersensor (the sensor and the plug) communicate via Bluetooth with your mobile app. As a result, it is recommended that there is no more than 1-2 rooms distance between where you choose to use your plug and where your sensors are attached.
---
Solar
If you don't yet have solar but are thinking of getting it in the future, there are a few options available. You can buy the Essentials Solar Solution (with the same hardware as the Energy Monitoring Solution) and configure it for net metering once your solar is installed, or you could buy the Advanced Solar Solution and only install one of the sensors (at your meter). The Advanced Solar Solution comes with a second sensor which you can attach to your solar inverter once you have it installed.

Other things to consider
If any of the following home setup factors apply to you, we recommend getting in touch to confirm compatibility before purchase.
- Live in an apartment
- Have a battery
- Have a separate tariff for your electric hot water
- Have more than one inverter
Submit a support ticket to your Powersensor retailer. Include any relevant photos to help our team determine your home setup match with Powersensor.
