Firstly, we do not recommend removing your sensor once installed, unless you need to charge it or you are relocating. If it's time to charge you sensor, you're relocating homes or you've been instructed to remove your sensor by our support team, here's how to remove your sensor(s) safely (please note that you do not have to turn off the sensor before moving it):
For sensors mounted using the re-closable fastener
For sensors mounted using the re-closable fastener (double-sided adhesive), use one hand to stabilise the attachment point (ie the wall in your meter box) and the other hand to slowly twist the sensor off the re-closable fastener.
For sensors mounted using the silicone strap
If the sensor is mounted using the silicone strap, use one hand to hold the sensor in place and the other to unhook the tag end of the strap from the sensor housing. The sensor will loosen from the mounting location and can then be removed.
Once you have removed the sensor, you can charge it or relocate it to its new location. When it’s time to reinstall the sensor, it is best to install the device in the same role i.e., the solar sensor should be installed at the inverter and the home sensor at the meter board. Follow the steps below:
- Pull up the ‘Devices’ view in your Powersensor app
- Select the sensor your would like to move, if you are uncertain of the sensor role you can use the ‘identify sensor’ button
- Select the ‘Move Sensor’ button shown below the sensor information
- Following the instructions in the app, reinstall the sensor at its new (or previous) location
